Supplier Reliability
Background
CYMOT is a Namibian based company consisting of five different divisions, including Midas (Automotive), Greensport (Outdoor Equipment), Tooltech (Workshop equipment and tools), Namsafe (Safety Equipment) and Colour Perfect (Automotive Paints). Cymot currently has 11 retail branches in Namibia and one in Angola. CYMOT has approx 1300 a/c customers and 2008 - 9 revenue was approx N$300m (+/- USD37m).
Challenge
CYMOT wanted to improve visibility and traceability of Purchase Orders received from the buyer due to the high volumes of PO's received daily. They were experiencing a high number of PO's not being received via fax and email and this led to strained buyer relationships due to unacceptable delivery performance, especially on safety equipment, which is a critical consumable.
Solution
By implementing SupplyCentre™ for the receiving of PO for their two clients, Rossing Uranium Limited
(Rio Tinto) and Skorpion Zinc (Anglo), CYMOT was able to improve the visibility and traceability
of PO, eliminate manual intervention and greatly improve their delivery performance. This, in turn,
improved the company’s credibility with buyers as a reliable and efficient supplier.
Results
- Traceability of orders
- Paperless process - CYMOT receives the PO electronically, input into its own ERP system and the first paper document produced is the delivery note in their warehouse.
- A copy of the PO is only required for delivery purposes per the customer’s request.
- No manual intervention required by CYMOT staff
- Improved relationship with Rio Tinto Procurement in JHB due to improved performance
- Strategic advantage with customers as a reliable supplier
