October 22, 2008 – South Korean-based SK Engineering and Construction (SKEC) is using Quadrem solutions to manage sourcing and procurement communications with an international community of 5,000 suppliers. Approximately 300 to 400 tenders are expected to be issued by SKEC to support a gas train project it’s undertaking in the Middle East for a national petroleum company.
“We chose Quadrem to handle Web-based sourcing and procurement for this USD $2 billion project because we must provide excellent management of worldwide suppliers,” said Mr. Oh-Young LEE, Project Procurement Chief Manager of the Fourth Gas Train Project Team, SKEC.
The plan is to ensure that SKEC’s client achieves performance and cost-control objectives and visibility into procurement processes with suppliers located in Europe, Asia, the Middle East and North and South America.
“Quadrem’s electronic solutions and professional services are the best way to manage the complexity of this large project,” said Ben Wong, Vice President Business Development, Quadrem Asia. “SKEC will be able to employ a great many criteria for supplier selection to achieve quality goals and continuity of supply. At the same time they will reduce costs and save fuel by procuring efficiently.”
All messages are transmitted through a single secure system, assuring integrity of the entire RFQ process, and supporting standardized bid evaluations and awards that can be based on a variety of criteria, from price-only to total cost of ownership. An added value is that this process is completely transparent.
